Analytical study of nonlinear magneto-optical absorption in hyperbolic quantum wells under external magnetic fields

We present an analytical investigation of nonlinear magneto-optical absorption in hyperbolic quantum wells (HQWs) subjected to an external magnetic field. Employing second-order perturbation theory, we derive closed-form expressions for the magneto-optical absorption coefficient (MOAC), incorporating two-photon transitions and longitudinal optical (LO) phonon-assisted mechanisms. Our analysis reveals that the optical absorption spectrum is strongly modulated by both structural parameters-such as the shape factors α and σ, and the confinement potential depth D-and physical conditions including magnetic field strength B and temperature T. Parameter variations lead to pronounced spectral shifts (redshift or blueshift) and complex trends in the full width at half maximum (FWHM), indicative of nonlinear and nontrivial carrier dynamics. These results highlight HQWs as adaptable quantum architectures for engineering light–matter interactions. Their high sensitivity to external perturbations positions them as promising candidates for the realization of reconfigurable photonic and optoelectronic platforms.
