Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Nam on the publication in the exceptional journal by the subject category
The Institute for Advanced Study in Technology (IAST) warmly congratulates Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Nam on his recent publication in Sustainability, a journal categorized as an exceptional journal in its subject category according to Ton Duc Thang University's classification system.
As a world-class scientist, Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Nam has consistently been named among the Top 1% of the world's most influential scientists (according to the Stanford/Elsevier rankings) from 2022 to the present. He is a leading expert in integrating Industry 4.0 technologies into mineral extraction, environmental protection, and circular economy development. His research works have made, and continue to make, pivotal contributions to the nation's digital transformation and sustainable green transition strategies.
The research paper, titled “Assessing Circularity Readiness in Data-Scarce Contexts: A Regional Framework for Environmental Resource Sectors in Vietnam,” focuses on evaluating the readiness for transitioning to a circular economy within environmental resource management sectors—including land, water, mining, and waste—across Vietnam's 6 eco-economic regions. Utilizing a framework based on 5 dimensions combined with the expert-consulting Delphi method, the findings reveal distinct regional variations: the Southeast and the Red River Delta exhibit high readiness thanks to strong institutional frameworks and dynamic business ecosystems; the Mekong Delta and the North Central Coast achieve moderate readiness levels; and the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region, along with the Central Highlands, show lower readiness due to constraints in infrastructure and innovation capacity. Based on these outcomes, the research team proposed tailored policy roadmaps corresponding to each region's readiness level. They also recommended integrating the circular economy into resource planning, establishing regional observatories, and increasing investment in research and development (R&D).
These findings not only affirm the research capacity and prestige of the scientific team at IAST but also make practical contributions to Vietnam's green transition and sustainable development strategies.
Once again, congratulations to Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Nam and the research team on this meaningful achievement. We wish the authors continued passion for research and many more outstanding successes on their scientific journey.
