Prof. Krasimir Vasilev appointed Adjunct Professor of Ton Duc Thang University
Ton Duc Thang University has appointed Prof. Krasimir Vasilev (Flinders University, Australia) as an Adjunct Professor. Prof. Vasilev previously served as a keynote speaker at the International Conference on Advanced Materials and Sustainable Development (iCAMSD 2026), hosted by the University. The appointment is a direct outcome of the academic connections established at iCAMSD 2026, demonstrating that the conference was not merely a forum for professional exchange but also a bridge opening the way to substantive, long-term collaboration with international scientists.
Prof. Vasilev is a leading expert in biomaterials and biomedical nanotechnology, with more than 360 scientific publications, an H-index above 72, and over 17,000 citations. He ranks among the top 0.5% of the world's most influential scientists according to Stanford University's ranking and has attracted more than USD 30 million in research funding.
A defining feature of Prof. Vasilev's career is his ability to bring research results to market. He is the author of five patents currently undergoing commercial transfer, most notably a bladder cancer diagnostic technology (a USD 5 million project with Motherson Australia) and an antibacterial surface technology for orthopaedic implants (a USD 6 million project with Corin Group).
Given Prof. Vasilev's experience and international collaboration network, the appointment is expected to promote joint research activities, co-supervision of doctoral students, and international publications between the two sides in the fields of biomaterials and biomedical nanotechnology.
