Congratulations to Dr. Ngo Son Tung and MSc. Thai Quynh Mai on the publication of their research in the top-tier international journal The Journal of Physical Chemistry B.
The Institute for Advanced Study in Technology (IAST) and Ton Duc Thang University would like to extend our congratulations to Dr. Ngo Son Tung and MSc. Thai Quynh Mai on their international publication in The Journal of Physical Chemistry B – a top-tier journal of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in the fields of Physical Chemistry and Molecular Biology.
The article entitled “Aβ42 Adopts a Stronger Binding Affinity to the Gold Surface than Aβ40” focuses on the binding mechanism of amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptides – the main “culprits” responsible for forming plaques in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. Using simulation methods such as molecular dynamics (MD) and steered molecular dynamics (SMD), the study demonstrates that the Aβ17-42 dimer exhibits a significantly stronger binding affinity to the gold nano-surface than Aβ17-40. Remarkably, Aβ17-42 maintains a stable β-hairpin structure, whereas Aβ17-40 transforms into a random coil. These findings provide deep molecular-level insights and lay an important foundation for the development of new therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases. This achievement once again reaffirms the international research standing and capability of the team of researchers and scientists at the IAST.
Once again, we would like to congratulate the authors and wish them to always keep their passion alive and achieve many more outstanding successes in their scientific careers.
