Welcome Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang, the First Co-affiliated Lecturer of IAST

Following the issuance of the Government's Decree No. 159/2026/ND-CP dated 15 May 2026 on co-affiliated lecturers, the co-affiliation model opens up new opportunities to strengthen connections between higher education institutions and scientists at research institutes. It helps make better use of scientific resources and promotes applied research and technology transfer.

The Institute for Advanced Study in Technology (IAST), Ton Duc Thang University, is pleased to welcome Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang as a co-affiliated lecturer. Dr. Hang's appointment will strengthen the Institute's research capacity, particularly in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, bioactive compounds, and technology process development.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang is currently Head of the Department of Heterocyclic Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Her research focuses on the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds, bioactive compounds, and active substances with potential applications in medicine and pharmacy. She has extensive experience in applied research and the development of pharmaceutical chemistry processes. She is currently the principal investigator of a national-level project on developing a continuous-flow process for synthesizing clozapine as an active pharmaceutical ingredient. Previously, she contributed to developing a continuous synthesis process for celecoxib, bringing the technology to pilot scale in compliance with USP standards, with a view toward production on WHO-GMP lines. These achievements reflect her commitment to linking scientific research with technology development and practical application.

With her research expertise and application-oriented approach, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang is expected to help develop applied research directions at IAST, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and promote the transfer of research results into practice.
