IAST Strengthens Research Capacity in Advanced Chemistry and Materials

Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) is implementing an investment package of nearly 15 billion VND to strengthen research capacity in advanced materials chemistry at the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology (IAST). The project is currently at the equipment procurement tendering stage, aiming to standardize and advance in-depth experimental research capabilities in line with the National List of Strategic Technologies issued by the Prime Minister.

Advanced materials are attracting strong interest from the scientific community in Vietnam and abroad, and are also a priority field for development. Under Decision No. 21/2026/QĐ-TTg dated 30 April 2026, the Prime Minister listed energy and advanced materials technologies among the country's 10 key strategic technology groups, and included advanced materials and functional materials among the product groups that directly drive economic growth. In this context, IAST's focus on this research direction both keeps pace with international scientific trends and contributes to realizing national strategic goals.

In line with this direction, TDTU's investment package focuses on a comprehensive addition of modern equipment systems to IAST's laboratories, completing the research chain from synthesis and fabrication to the analysis and characterization of materials at the micro- and nanoscale.

In particular, this upgrade firmly strengthens the link between IAST's established strength in computational modeling and in-depth experimental capabilities. When theoretical results are rigorously cross-checked and validated by experiments, their reliability, academic depth, and value for international publication will increase significantly, laying the groundwork for tackling complex interdisciplinary problems in new materials technology.

Alongside the infrastructure investment, IAST continues to strengthen its policy of attracting high-quality scientific talent. The Institute warmly welcomes scientists, researchers, and postdoctoral fellows in chemistry and materials science to join in building strong in-house experimental research groups, contributing to the goal of self-reliance in and mastery of national strategic technologies.
