Welcome Professor Dr. Bui Xuan Nam to the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology (IAST) - Ton Duc Thang University

IAST warmly welcomes Professor Dr. Bui Xuan Nam as he officially joins the Institute in the role of Researcher. This is a great honor and a significant milestone in the Institute's development journey.

Professor Bui Xuan Nam, a member of The Society of Mining Professors, Vice President of the Vietnam Mining Science and Technology Association, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Vietnam Association of Mine Explosives Engineers, is a leading prestigious scientist in the field of mineral exploitation. He has made significant contributions to responsible and environmentally friendly mining practices. Professor Nam has developed models for predicting the impact of mineral exploitation on the environment, simulating mining processes and synchronizing mining equipment, and researching mechanized rock breaking methods as an alternative to drilling and blasting in suitable conditions. Furthermore, Professor Bui Xuan Nam is also an expert in occupational safety and health, researching the reduction of risks and occupational accidents in the mining industry. He has developed a safety risk assessment method, enhanced public awareness training, and focused on addressing practical issues, contributing to the improvement of working conditions in the Vietnamese mining sector. Professor Nam's research has been funded by a lot of national, ministerial, and sectoral research projects. His research findings have been published in numerous prestigious national and international scientific journals, contributing to raising the profile of the Vietnamese mining industry on the global scientific map. Moreover, these results have been applied in practice and protected by intellectual property rights with 02 intellectual property titles. Additionally, Professor Nam is a member of the editorial boards of international and national scientific journals such as:

Besides, Professor Nam has published 26 books, including textbooks, reference books, and monographs; and has successfully supervised 08 doctoral students, 55 master's students, and nearly 500 engineers in fields related to mining and the environment.

With his outstanding contributions in science, training, and innovation, the Institute believes that Professor Bui Xuan Nam will contribute to making the Institute stronger in scientific research activities, high-quality training, and extensive connections with the national and international scientific community.
