Welcome Professor Dr. Pham Quoc Long to the Institute for Advanced Study in Technology - Ton Duc Thang University

The Institute for Advanced Study in Technology (IAST) is honored to warmly welcome Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Long, who has officially joined the Institute as a Senior Researcher. This is a great privilege and a significant milestone in the Institute’s development journey.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Long is one of Vietnam’s leading scientists in Organic Chemistry and Natural Products Chemistry. He was awarded the academic title of Professor in 2012 and has been an active member of several Professor Title Councils in the field of Chemistry and Food Technology.

His research focuses on lipids, fatty acids, and natural compounds from marine organisms and plants, with applications in medicine, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, and biotechnology. Prof. Long has significantly contributed to raising the profile of Vietnamese Chemistry in the global scientific community.

Scientific and Educational Contributions

• Publications: Author of 07 books, including monographs, textbooks, and specialized scientific works.
• Research papers: Over 250 scientific papers, with ~80 articles published in prestigious international journals indexed in SCI/SCIE/Scopus, such as Journal of Natural Products, Phytochemistry.
• Research projects: Principal investigator of 21 research projects at various levels, including 05 national-level projects and 16 ministerial-level projects.
• Intellectual property: Holder of 15 patents and utility solutions.
• Training: Successfully supervised 15 PhD candidates.

Awards and Recognition: Prof. Long has received numerous national and international honors for his scientific and technological contributions:

• VIFOTEC Award (2005).
• State Award for Science and Technology (2012) for a cluster of works on the “Rational exploitation of marine biological resources in Vietnam for the development of valuable products”.
• Certificate of Merit from the Belarus Academy of Sciences (2011).
• Honorary Diploma from the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2015) for his contributions to bilateral scientific cooperation.
• Certificate of Merit from the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2019).
• Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam (2021) for his outstanding achievements in research and applications under the national key S&T program (2016–2020).

With his outstanding contributions in research, education, and innovation, IAST firmly believes that Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Long will play an important role in strengthening the Institute’s capacity in scientific research, high-quality training, and international collaboration.
